Pride and prejudice:
I am going to talk about the book Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen is the author of this book. The story is set around the year 1800 in Netherfield (United Kingdom).
It is a love story between a rich man and a humble woman, something that was inconceivable at the time. In the book, there are lovely characters, beautiful landscapes and a great plot.
Pride and Prejudice is the story of a young woman whose name is Elisabeth Bennet. She is the second eldest daughter of the Bennet couple, who has fie daughters. Elisabeth's family is a bit unusual because, for example, at that time, it was not normal to present all the daughters in society unless the previous daughter was married; but in this family, all of them were presented. Advantageous marriages were the norm at this time, but not for the Bennet family, they wanted their daughters to marry with whom their hearts told them.
One night at Netherfield, two friends named Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley appear at a dance organized in a mansion, where they meet the Bennet family. Mr. Darcy was a brooding, silent, proud and very rich man. Elisabeth and Mr. Darcy, at first, had no interest in each other. Over time, he begins to fall in loe with her wit and charm and Elisabeth begins to see that her prejudices toward Darcyare fake and that he is a good and true gentleman who is only shy.
It is a very curious story, as the society of that time is very different from that of today. I was shocked by the prejudices that people had towards people who had no money or the other way around. Besides, even though it is a love story, you do not expect at any moment what is going to happen throughout the story. Another thing that stands out is Jane Austen's original way of writing. She describes everything in a unique way and makes you get transported to that time. Finally, another reason why I like the book is that deals with several topics, such as: impossible love, the differences between people, blackmail, family love and so on. I reccommend you to read the novel and enjoy this unusual love story.
